In our 12-week accelerator program, talented founders and the TSF Team worked to refine product, launch it to target customers, and tested business models. Additionally, we provided access to startup experts, hands-on mentors, and our network after the program, which the team continues to do. We invested $50k for 7.5% of the common equity for all accepted accelerator stage companies in our first fund.
We ran our accelerator program in Durham, NC, at the American Underground from 2012 to 2015.
Thoughts from TSF Alumni and Mentors
“Antenna was at a point where we needed cash to move from side project to serious startup, and connected mentors to help us focus our thinking and get to the right targets. For our product, there were thousands of people we could talk to, but only a handful we should have. The Startup Factory helped get us to the right people, supported us with enough capital to make a serious run, and their supportive, down-to-earth mentorship helped a ton without us ever feeling like we needed to compete against the other companies for attention.”
Porter Bayne, Co-Founder and CEO of Antenna
“To succeed as an entrepreneur, you’ll really need a support system. I think that’s one of the most valuable aspects of joining an accelerator program like The Startup Factory.”
Anil Chawla, Founder and CEO of Archive Social
“I really didn’t understand what it meant to get investors or what it meant to be an officer on a board. Part of the great thing about this program is that it takes you systematically through that process and that was a huge benefit to me. I had what I thought was a really good idea and it took these guys to help me bring it to fruition.”
Brad Davis, Head of Product of Arcametrics Systems, Inc.
“With the help of the TSF Team, we were able to raise a significant amount of money during the 12 week accelerator, which was exciting for a number of reasons.”
